Dependency Risk add-on for Atlassian JIRA
Seize your blocking dependency risks
Dependency Risk for JIRA is an add-on for Atlassian JIRA Server and Data Center available on the Atlassian Marketplace.
Dependency Risk for JIRA displays a stop sign when a story is blocked by dependencies that are not done, directly within the same view the team is using to plan or work. Otherwise, the add-on stays out of the way.
Project risk management
While the ideal of any agile iteration is for each story to be independent of any other stories, in the real-world stories sometimes depend on other stories even with one team within one sprint, and sometimes teams depend on others outside the team. Each dependency adds risk, as the dependency adds constraints to when a story can complete, and sometimes these constraints are outside of the team's control.
Dependency Risk for JIRA highlights the dependency risks directly within the same view the team is using to plan and the same view that the team uses to actively work on stories, whether the board is using Scrum or Kanban. Dependency Risk for JIRA updates those risks in real-time as issues are added and removed from the board, as issue resolution status changes, and as issue dependencies are modified.
JIRA's issue links
Dependencies of one JIRA issue on another JIRA issue are entered and maintained by using the Linking Issues feature built-in to JIRA. Dependency Risk for JIRA reads the "is blocked by" links of the JIRA issues on the agile board and considers an issue to be blocked when any of those dependencies are not yet done.
Stop sign image
Only when an agile board's issues have dependencies on other issues that are not done, Dependency Risk for JIRA will display a stop sign image within the story card. When the user's cursor hovers over the stop sign image, a list of the blocking dependencies is displayed.
Dependencies display regardless of whether the dependencies are within the same sprint, are in another sprint, are in another project, or within another board.
The dependency list display automatically updates:
